An Autologous Blood Injection (ABI) involves injecting your own blood into your tendon to help it heal from damage. This technique involves taking some of your own blood out of an arm vein, exactly like having a blood test, and immediately re-injecting it into the damaged area.
Achilles, patellar, and hamstrings tendons, as well as tennis elbow and golfer's elbow can be treated using ABI. It is also used for the treatment of plantar fasciitis.
Treats any tendon and ABI can be used for ligament damage, strains and sprains.
The procedure takes no longer than 15 minutes.
You should see improvements within 6 weeks after the injection.

Below we have answered frequently asked questions. But, get in touch if you require any further information.
The injected blood works by stimulating the release of healing factors that are usually released when we cut or injure ourselves. It also works by the mechanical division of the tendon fibres which is how some surgery is performed.
There should be no adverse side effects. However, some patients may experience pain in the injected tendon for 1-7 days. This can be treated with ice, elevation and Paracetamol.
You should not participate in high impact activity for the first 2 weeks after the injection. It is important to slowly reintroduce activity and normal activity can resume after 4 weeks. You should rest for at least one week post-injection.
